Has anyone seen Colin? I'd Like to Evaluate Him!

As interesting as Whale Blubber Pot Pie sound I decided to stick with the more academic paper by Ned Rozell

URL: http://www.gi.alaska.edu/ScienceForum/ASF19/1917.htmlAuthor: Ned Rozell Institution: University of Alaska Summary: This paper investigates the rarity of diabetes and cardio vascular disease in Alaskan Natives. It suggests that it is due to a diet high in fats.. but good fats that are rich in omega 3 acids. As the traditional diet has waned people have replaced the good fats, that they were virtually addicted to, with bad ones, like crisco.

I felt this article was reliable as Ned Rozell is a science writer at the Geophysical Institute, University of Alaska Fairbanks. This article is current as it was written for the Alaska Science Forum, July 23 2008. The paper has a link send him an email.

With the Alta Vista link search I found 3 sites had linked to this page, which is not a lot, but it is a bit of a niche market.

The article was written to reinforce the idea that saturated fats contribute to diabetes and heart disease, although the Alaskan people mentioned in this article have a diet high in fat it is 'good' fat, high in omega 3 fatty acids. As they have become addicted to the fats, they have also moved to non traditional food sources and now consume greater amounts of saturated fat, with an relative decline in the health of the population.

My above annotation of the site was more useful than the original snapshot, purely because it had more information in it, but the snapshot served its purpose in allowing me to find it in the first place. And again this would be true for external users.
